Gotland Silk Yarn
This luxurious blend of our Gotland wool and silk brings out the qualities unique to both fibers: silkiness, luster, and soft handle. The silk gives a heathered look to the yarn, adding dimension and depth to its color. It is spun in a 2 ply fingering weight with approximately 180 yards on a skein. Perfect for elegant lightweight shawls, scarves, and cowls.

Gray Gotland Yarn
Gotland sheep produce lustrous long curls in varying shades of gray from light silver to deep charcoal. The yarn has a very silky handle and a lovely drape when knit. This light shade is a true heathered gray, reminiscent of the mist that forms over the mountains on our farm in Vermont. The mill spun this wool in a 3 ply worsted weight. Each skein weighs approximately 3 oz. with ~110-120 yards to the skein. We have a limited number of skeins, so please order for your entire project.

New England Hat Kit with Mary Jane Mucklestone Pattern
New England Hat Kit Featuring Mary Jane Mucklestone’s Wildflower Cap
Wanting to offer a true New England winter hat knitting kit, we joined with Mary Jane Mucklestone of Maine to offer this special kit combining her Wildflower Cap pattern and our Gotland gray yarn. Each kit contains a hard copy of Mary Jane’s pattern and our Gotland yarn. I have over-dyed some of our pale gray yarn for the color work section and the pom pom on top of the hat. You will also receive a coupon code which will allow you to download the pattern into your ravelry account library for future reference.
I asked the mill to spin this yarn with a little extra wool so that it would make a cozy hat, perfect for fighting the cold New England winters. It knits up nicely on size 7 needles (or size needed to obtain the right gauge). The color work section is perfect for the person who wants to try their hand at knitting with two colors. Mary Jane includes a chart making it easy to follow and to create the lovely wildflower as you knit.
We just have a few kits left. The following colors are available:
Wool Rug Yarn
Gotland Wool Rug Yarn
Still River Mill in Connecticut has processed a lovely Gotland core spun wool rug yarn for our farm using our own wool. The yarn is core spun with Romney wool wrapped around the center core and Gotland wool spun as the outer layers. Each bump of yarn showcases the three shades of Gotland gray from very pale silver to darker gray. This chunky yarn is perfect for weaving. The woven fabric gradually changes from one shade of gray to another. The yarn weaves up into lovely cozy rugs. Each bump weighs about 2 pounds and weaves a small rug of about 2 ft. x 4 ft. (Weaving dimensions vary depending upon how tightly you pack your weft.)
Would you like to own a Gotland wool rug but do not want to weave it yourself? We are happy to weave a rug for you. We charge $25/square foot for a finished woven rug. Email Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about purchasing a finished rug.
Once you have your hand woven rug, we suggest you care for it by:
-shaking it out regularly
-put a nonslip mat underneath it
-never use the brush attachment on your vacuum
-dry clean when needed
-hang it outside in the sun for several hours once a year.
Gotland Wool Handwoven Blanket
Gotland Wool Handwoven Blanket
Our Blanket’s Story
Each blanket begins with a shepherd and her Gotland sheep, grazing on the mountainside pastures at Grand View Farm in Vermont. She tends to them throughout the year, caring for their lambs and tending to their pastures. In the spring, they are sheared, and the shepherd carefully skirts the fiber, and ships it to a small family mill. The mill spins the wool according to her specifications for weaving. Each blanket is hand woven in Vermont on a floor loom, with special attention to every detail. Every inch of the blankets contain a piece of Grand View Farm, and the lives of those who care for the sheep.
This elegant handwoven blanket is crafted by a friend and textile artist named Jane Woodhouse. We collaborated with Jane to design the perfect farm to home Vermont heirloom blanket. Jane raises angora goats on her Vermont farm and has been production weaving for the past 30 years. We selected a herringbone weave pattern to showcase two shades of our Gotland gray yarn, raised right here on our farm.
Caring for Your Blanket
We suggest airing your blanket outside on a sunny day at least once a year. If soiled, wash and rinse with cold water, using a mild soap. Do not agitate while washing, but rather let it soak in the water. Line dry.
The blanket has a lovely drape and silkiness common to Gotland fiber. The long fringe on each end of the blanket measures about 4 inches. The blankets measure approximately 62 inches in length and 35 inches in width, perfect for keeping the winter chill out.

Gotland Wool Felting Batt
Many fiber artists enjoy using Gotland wool for their felting projects. Gotland wool felting batts allow for quick layout of projects. The wool felts very quickly and easily. Our felting batts are prepared by a small local Vermont fiber mill. They are very soft and come rolled in brown paper. Each roll weighs between 8 oz. and 8.8 oz. The batts may be easily pulled apart into multiple thin layers of wool. We currently have felting batts in two shades of gray: medium pewter gray, and very pale silver gray. The pale silver has flecks of black throughout the batt. The wool is clean and free of vegetation matter. I have used our Gotland felting wool for making hats, slippers, and vests.
